The only male presence on our Community Development team is Marc Johnson, who is based in Alnwick. Before joining CAN in 2006, Marc was employed by Northumberland County Council in various roles within the field of transport. For the majority of this time he was the Rural Transport Partnership Officer in Berwick Borough and Alnwick District. This involved developing community transport projects with local groups. Marc’s most recent role has been as Travel Plan Co-ordinator, which involved working with schools to help them develop travel plans to encourage safer and more environmentally friendly ways of travelling to school. Marc was born and brought up in rural Northumberland, growing up in the village of Whittingham. Marc has a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Sunderland and during his time at university got involved in a number of projects as a volunteer and on placements. When his hamstrings, wife and sons let him, Marc attempts to play rugby. His other interests are food, (cooking as well as eating) travel and he also enjoys the odd glass of red wine or pint of real ale. If you have an idea for a project in your community or group and would like to discuss project development and funding, please give Marc a ring on 01665 605540. Marc is based at: |
