Advice & Support

CAN believes that a warm, comfortable and safe public meeting place is essential to community life and offers a comprehensive advice and information service for management committees.

Louise Currie is the Community Initiatives Officer and is responsible for advising and supporting trustees of community buildings.

CAN has been instrumental in setting up two Village Hall Consortia covering the West and North of Northumberland.

The term community building is used generically to cover village halls, Women’s Institute halls, church halls, scout huts, recreational pavilions, day centres and community centres which have initially been set up to serve a single specific user group but many of which now open their doors to a wider community.
