Area Advisory Groups

CAN operates two area advisory groups, one in the West and one in the North, these groups enable Staff, Trustees and other interested parties to meet and discuss issues affecting CAN and rural Northumberland.

Terms of Reference

Context:
Each area group is appointed by, and is responsible to, CAN's Executive Committee. There wil be two area groups - one for the north of the county and one for the west of the county - which will broadly follow the respective 'Characteristic Community' areas.

Size and Composition:
To be open to all of the Executive Committee members, for the time being, who are from the area of the Area Group, together with up to 5 additional people from the area to be co-opted by the Group.

Role and Powers:
To reflect on and support CAN's work within the locality.
To feed issues and opportunities from the locality into CAN's Executive Committee.
To provide a local CAN perspective to other bodies within the locality.

Accountability:
The Area Group will operate at arms' length from the Executive Committee, but will report to the Executive Committee on matters which require a formal CAN trustee decision.

Duration:
The Area Group will continue in existence unless and until the Executive Committee otherwise determines. The Executive Committee will review and may alter the membership each year, following the Annual General Meeting.
