Our Mission

Our mission is to benefit and help sustain rural communities in Northumberland by:

  • Promoting Rural Issues – Providing and supporting a ‘rural voice’, to influence and tackle rural community needs and issues.
  • Empowering Organisations – Supporting and developing local communities and their key groups and organisations.
  • Supporting Individuals – Identifying, developing, managing and running projects to address the needs of rural communities.
Ray Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund - Public Consultation

Community Action Northumberland is delighted to have been chosen by Vattenfall to facilitate a local consultation exercise, as to how the Ray Wind Farm Community Benefit Scheme can best be used to benefit the local community. In January, as part of this process, we will be asking residents of the area around the wind farm, and organisations working in the area to complete a survey. Wingates Windfarm Community Benefit Fund - Open for Applications

Grants of between £250 and £2,000 are available for constituted voluntary and community groups, parish councils and schools carrying out projects which will be of community benefit within the parishes of Brinkburn & Hesleyhurst, Longhorsley, Netherwitton, Nunnykirk, and Rothley & Hollinghill . The next deadline for applications is Mon 15th February 2016 and applications will be considered at the panel meeting on Mon 7th March

Energy Saving Initiatives to support Low income Households

CAN is currently working with partners to promote a number of initiatives which aim to help low income households to improve energy efficiency and reduce their energy bills. The range of support on offer includes: advice from a community energy agent on reducing your energy bills; A free energy monitor: free energy efficient boilers for qualifying households, and installation of central heating for qualifying households in areas that are off the gas grid
