Our Mission

Our mission is to benefit and help sustain rural communities in Northumberland by:

  • Promoting Rural Issues – Providing and supporting a ‘rural voice’, to influence and tackle rural community needs and issues.
  • Empowering Organisations – Supporting and developing local communities and their key groups and organisations.
  • Supporting Individuals – Identifying, developing, managing and running projects to address the needs of rural communities.

CAN’s 2016 AGM will take place on Wednesday 2 November at Stocksfield Community Centre. The event will open at 12 noon with a buffet lunch (cost £5 per person). The formal business of the AGM will commence at 1pm and will be followed by presentations on the the theme of Affordable Housing in Rural Northumberland. Presenters include: Pete Duncan, SCATA Michael Farr, Isos Housing Tom Johnston, Glendale Gateway Trust CAN Staff will be on hand to provide further information about our current work.

Wingates Windfarm Community Benefit Fund - Open for Applications

Grants of between £250 and £2,000 are available for constituted voluntary and community groups, parish councils and schools carrying out projects which will be of community benefit within the parishes of Brinkburn & Hesleyhurst, Longhorsley, Netherwitton, Nunnykirk, and Rothley & Hollinghill . The next deadline for applications will be Mon 15th Nov 2016 and applications will be considered at the panel meeting on Mon 5th June.
